Flights of Fancy

Flights of Fancy Story and Photographs By John Murray .jpg) .jpg)
Impossibly long necks. Wingspans that dwarf a full grown man. It seems hard to imagine a Swan or a Great Blue Heron being capable of flight, yet when they beat their powerful wings down and your ears fill with the sound of air whistling through their feathers, you stare in awe. The Swan pounds his wings down against the water for lift and uses his oversized webbed feet to thrust him forward down the runway for take-off. The Heron bends its long legs and thrusts itself straight upward into flight.
